Hope everyone is doing well and enjoying this chilly winter! We are trying our best to buy in the winter but with very little garage sales and auctions it can be tough. Luckily we have our shop that brings in customers looking to sell their "treasures"! As was the case when a fella from Charlotte stopped in and said he had some Gas/Oil stuff he was looking to get rid of. So to Charlotte we went......
As I was driving out there I was told I couldn't miss the place but as I was trying to read mailboxes for the house number I passed the house twice. On my second pass I started to look at houses instead of mailboxes and what do you know he had 2 large Gas Station signs in his front yard and a large Sinclair Sign on top of his garage! Definitely a fail on my part but none the less made it to my destination!
As I approached the house I was already excited based off the setup he had outside with the Gas and Oil Signs and Pumps. When I entered his garage it was like walking into an episode of American Pickers when they find a Honey Hole! This gentleman's house had everything from Hanging Lighted Hastings Manufacturing Clock, Gulf Gas Pumps, and pretty much any an every gas and oil can there is! I knew I was in for a good day to say the least!
He started off by showing me his collection and how and when he got all the goodies. Most of his purchases came at auctions but he also got some really good finds at local garage/estate sales. Then he took me to a separate room filled with vintage sports cards, Hot Wheels still in the package and the gem of the trip for me which was a framed Michael Jordan Jersey & Ball and Picture! It Is definitely a must have for any sports collector which I am. So after being introduced to his collection if let me roam on my own to really soak up his massive collection.
We negotiated some great deals on a large box filled with still full, never opened Vintage Quaker State Oil Cabs, Sinclair Cans, Texaco Wooden Crate and some unopened Vintage Football cards still in the packs plus other great items!! Stop into the shop to see all the items we bought. It was one of the best picks I've ever been on and ill definitely be going back there again! He was a great guy who showed me around and treated me like we've known each other for years!
Hope you all enjoyed our little story of our latest pick and we thank you all for reading! Also don't be scared to leave us a comment or some feedback on what you like or would like to see us do differently. And like always don't forget to.....
